full size luxury - sedan
For the 2005 model year Audi AG has decided not to follow suit with the other luxury automakers but to lead on its own in creating a larger more luxurious front grille. From the company known for creating sleek sport sedans, this new design theme comes as a bit of a shock to those who know the company and its past work. But for the 2005 model year Audi has decided to go the other direction with its mid class sports sedan the A6 and change the front to feature an even bigger front grille. With its new fresh new face the A6 has become more of an open-ended car to the world with its oversized front grille, which flows, beautifully from the bottom of the bumper up to the edge of the hood line. This new grille is a nice touch to a car, which has seemed to run short of ideas for this cars design since it has used all the best ones up during the past decade. The new grille has created a split between the once joined front airport housed on the bottom of the bumper. This breakup has worked between the two sides seems to have worked on the design of the new A6 and has let the bottom fog lamps become separate from one another. The newly designed front headlamps give the front of the new A6 a more sporting appeal than its predecessor did.
From the sides of the headlamps Audi has added a nice design line, which flows, beautifully from the bottom of the bumper back to meet at the bottom of the windshield. The rear edge of the headlamps has yet another design line which flows from one end of the car to the other adding a nice sleek look to the side of the car. Audi has yet decided to add its large and somewhat boring wheel design to the new A6 which helps add to the illusion of being a sport sedan and also creates an upscale look for the car but has no sex appeal to them at all, maybe its time Audi brings back the sport rims of the mid nineties S4 to the new A6. From the hood we follow the beautifully crafted outer design line over the roof of the car and down the back window to the rear of the A6 where Audi seemed to cut its imagination short.
From the rear trunk lid you can see where Audi cut down on its imagination with the very simple and boring rear tail lamps which give the rear of the A6 what it needs but not what it should have. Maybe if Audi had designed the rear tail lamps to be a crystal light or even had cut the sides of them to be more vertically angled outwards they could have created some more sex appeal on the rear. With its sleek curves and new front grille, the new A6 is certainly going to give its competitors something to watch out for.
