Muscle Car - High Performance
Well it's been 50 years of muscle car wars and 50 years of the Ford Mustang and we have come to expect the best from the best. Now when it came to its 50th anniversary we all expected the best Mustang ever, one that would change the face of the muscle car world yet again. When your the one who created the market of muscle cars, you would expect that you would do something big on your 50th. But if your Ford, it seems that missing your mark is something that is all too common. The all new 2015 Mustang is nothing to be proud of. It is just another sports coupe, lost in the world of coupes and muscle cars. It may have been awhile since the muscle car wars were in full force but when you think about the best, you hope for the best. For their 50th Ford has released an Accord inspired muscle/coupe. Up front the Mustang still has that bad boy front end with its long hood line and devil edged headlights. Add to that a lower spoiler and the biggest Mustang logo ever, and you have the makings of a Beast. The only bad touch is the use of round fog lights. If they were a long slit along the bottom, it may have made your eyes focus more on the headlights. Out back Ford has continued with its triple light and race inspired ducts, but that is where the fun stops. Along with this they have added a bumper which leans to far forward, a long flat window and a spoiler which could have been done without. Along the side the standard five point Mustang rims are present along with the perfect sized wheel flare and side creases. A lower side skirt which adds more down force, will ensure that this Mustang never leaves the road. Well unless you lose control of it. Overall the new Mustang is a decent coupe, but in no way is the king of the muscle cars. It seems that only Dodge can maintain the real allure of the muscle car with its big body, big engine and big wheels. Ford and Chevrolet have made it clear that the muscle car era is on its way out with their new coupe inspired models. Its a real shame that this has to happen after 50 years. Well lets just hope that someone will keep this market alive. Everett J.
