2019 GMC Sierra Denali
So the hype of all of the new trucks is finally over as GMC has finally released the new Sierra. But was it really worth all that hype and waiting. For us we would say No as there is only one really cool thing that is new with this truck. And that would be the double tailgate. Sure it's great to get stuff out of your box without having to expose all of your product, but it is only really worth it if you can use it when you overloaded the tailgate. By that we mean when you have 10 sheets of drywall on top of your tailgate and you need your tools before you start work. If you could retrieve them from the box of your truck without dropping the load, that would be great. But this double gate only helps with getting out product without having to re-tool everything. And it helps you put that kayak in without having to lost your gear along the way.
We do appreciate that GMC has integrated the exhaust ports into the rear bumper and has kept the rear bumper steps. A box mounted handle would have further helped us get into the box, but we will make due with the bumper steps. The major downside of this actual truck is what you pay for it. If I want to spend over $60,000 on a truck, I'm not going to be using it to haul heavy or dirty loads around. For that price I'm only hooking it up to a trailer to pull around my toys and the box will only get used to haul antiques home. I guess what we have to say about the Denali edition, is that if we wanted a Cadillac pickup, we would have asked for the Escalade EXT again. But the leather and chrome to make it look good when you roll up to the country club with your clubs in the back.
All around the new or revised Sierra Denali is a great looking truck, but we would still like to see it as an actual work truck before we make our final decision on true look of the Sierra. Let's hope that GM has reduced the price for replacing the lights and tailgate or we can expect that your insurance on this truck will be more than any of its competitors. This could be because this is one of the most stolen vehicles around due to its replacement part pricing. Hope GM thought about that before making this new truck.
We would recommend this truck if you want a MB X-Class equivalent with a bit more power and size. But if your looking for a true work truck, then stick to the Silverado.
