Death call for the V8's in the V8 Supercar series
We have all seen the Asian invasion happen in other series (NASCAR) with little change, but when your series lives off of being home to purebred V8 cars, then a V6 Asian starts to seem odd. As for Mercedes it may not seem off, since the E63 already comes with a V8. But when you consider that Mercedes already owns two racing series in Europe and is making inroads into the U.S., then you start to see the attack.
Then only model which does not seem like it is a true attacker on the prowl, would be the car from the United States. It seems that Chrysler may join its GM and Ford rivals in this series with its own 300. Still some time off from being included, the 300 sedan could be the only welcomed change from the Holden and Ford lineups.
In the end this attack should have been kept back, but when you consider that Nissan and Mercedes have deep pockets, it may be a welcome change. With the addition of the Altima and E63, we may finally see this series become a bit more of a world series, rather than a country series.
