Lincoln Aviator Concept or is it a new Range Rover - Copycat Award
Well I guess when you want to play with the best then you might as well look the part. And it seems that Lincoln has done that with the Aviator Concept. Sure it looks like nothing we have ever seen from Lincoln, but it is something that we have seen from Land Rover.
The long sweeping lines which taper upwards at the rear to the wrap around rear windows, this Aviator is really playing on the Land Rover side of things. Sure at first glance you may not notice the similarities, but when you see the two next to each other you start to see it. As usual we noticed right away that this was a play on the Range Rover Sport profile, but as we mentioned most won't catch on right away.
If you change over the wheels, flatten out the side profile and lose the chrome accents you really start to see how this is a copy of the Range Rover Sport. Sure you can fight us on the fact that the Lincoln is larger, has more curves and gives off that American luxury feel, but when your travelling behind this on the highway you will start to accept it more as a Range Rover rather than a Lincoln.
To beat this clash of design culture, Lincoln would be wise to cowl the hood, add more character lines to the side profile and chrome, chrome, chrome the beast up. As with most Lincoln's, chrome is the most important step in closing the deal, so let's hope that when the Aviator reaches showrooms that it comes with more chrome. Well here's to you Lincoln on achieving another copycat award from AutoLooks.net. You can add this the wall full of copycat plaques hanging up in your office.
