Podcast episode: 0026

Trucks may not just be the big work horses we are use to, as we take a look at the other, lesser known truck market. The CUT market is older than you think and still has a place in the world, but can it stay afloat? AutoLooks takes a look at this segments past, present and future on this #podcast.

From the various versions of the Model T to the actual CUT original the Model A roadster Pickup, the CUT market has come a long way from its original roots. Born during the roaring twenties, this market was another required product for the automotive world. Being required for intercity travels, the CUT market moved slower than its bigger truck market, but eventually found steam during the urbanization of the world during the 50's.
Holding its own against its truck rivals right up until the late 80's, the CUT market has gone through a few changes throughout its biggest years. After the introduction of the mid-size truck unto the world, this market seemed to re-track or disappear in certain markets. Although it managed to make it through the 90's and early 00's, the eventual end came for its biggest market in the late 2010's.
Determined to make it through these tough times, this market changed its image from a car based market, to a CUV one. This helped bring to life a few more possibilities for this market and with it a possible future.
Can the likes of Hyundai, Volkswagen and Honda keep this market alive. Only time will tell.
