episode 0026:
![]() The CUT or Crossover Utility Truck market may be older than you really know and its origins and foundation are far from the known truth. The Ranchero didn't create this market, but Ford did have a hand in its original foundation. From the various versions of the Model T to the actual CUT original the Model A roadster Pickup, the CUT market has come a long way from its original rootes. Born during the roaring twenties, this market was another required product for the automotive world. Being required for intercity travels, the CUT market moved slower than its bigger truck market, but eventually found steam during the urbanization of the world during the 50's. Holding its own against its truck rivals right up until the late 80's, the CUT market has gone through a few changes throughout its biggest years. After the introduction of the mid-size truck unto the world, this market seemed to re-track or disappear in certain markets. Although it managed to make it through the 90's and early 00's, the eventual end came for its biggest market in the late 2010's. Determined to make it through these tough times, this market changed its image from a car based market, to a CUV one. This helped bring to life a few more possibilties for this market and with it a possible future. Can the likes of Hyundai, Volkswagen and Honda keep this market alive. Only time will tell. Everett J.
