2026 A+ Awards

And the 2026 A+ award winner is......

Picture
Most who return can never replicate what they once accomplished the first time around.  That may seem true for most, but when it is completed by an outside firm it may not be as true as one would think.  This years AutoLooks A+ Winner has been a winner before, but only as its original offering.  This time around its being done by someone else.

For 2026 model year more was better for all of us, as we saw an increase in the amount of vehicles surpassing the 75% barrier.  This could mean that automotive design is trending upwards once again, as we look past technology and safety as our main components which spearhead our designs.

With a rise from seven (7) to thirteen (13) cars, this years top of the design world set out to break records and prove that people care about automotive design once again.  Although we did see a drop in the overall percentage from 2025, the amount at the top of the list was more welcoming than the past few years.  Overall the performance for the top of the design world has crept up for the first time in a while and is showing us that we can make better designs.

Our top rated list did contain what we have all come to expect from it.  High Performance, Sports and Aftermarket products, once again held all of the spots on this list, but we did see our first ALV make our top 20 best dressed for 2026 list.  Although both ALV's which made the top 20 didn't make the cut for our A+ Awards, they did prove that some markets are getting a bit more serious about there designs.

Overall 2026 did see a change to our perception of automotive design, but not to our perception of the perfect people mover.  Hopefully we can once again see a sedan or SUV, back on the best dressed list.  If not, then we may have to push a bit harder at getting a few to the top of the list.

2026 AUTOLOOKS A+ AWARD WINNER IS......
For 2026, it came as no surprise to us as to who would be crowned this years A+ Winner.  From the time we heard about this project, we thought that this would make our best dressed list.  And did it.  As the 2026 JAS Motorsport Tensei bred new life into the famous Acura NSX.

We all know how the previous NSX from Honda/Acura made out top list back in 2016.  But who would have thought that a company other than Honda could make the original product even better.  Well when you have some help from Pininfarina, you can expect your finished product to turn every head in the room. And just like a supermodel, this rebirth product does just that.

Born from a racing car constructor, you would have always guessed that their first foray into the supercar world, would be amazing.  But to bring back one of the best looking cars from the 90's, was a big feat in itself.  A car which was setup by the global F1 champion, Ayrton Senna could be a hard vehicle to emulate to perfection once again.  But JAS did it.

From front to rear, every part of this centuries NSX (Tensei) is designed to perfection.  Utilizing the original flip up lights, with the addition of a lower centre of gravity and larger tires and rims, this homage is more than a rebirth of an icon.  It is the resurrection of a true icon.  The Tensei has everything set out to perfection, where Pininfarina has taken the original NSX and mixed it with the best from the aftermarket and the best design elements of today.

Overall the Tensei's design is a perfect blend of new and old, which pays homage to a true icon of the supercar world.  We just hope that there is more to come.

    About

AutoLooks "RATED" is where we rate and review vehicles from around the world from every segment of the automotive industry.  Our 1,215 point system is based on Four (4) key areas of automotive design.
AutoLooks rates the Front End, Rear End, Side and Overall Appeal of each and every new vehicle from around the world.
If they rate above 75%, they receive our
    A+ AWARD for design excellence.
If our rating system turns up a score below 45%, then that model will receive our RUSTY AWARD of design failure.
And don't think of borrowing to many design features from another company, or you will wind up taking home our COPYCAT AWARD.  This award outlines which model they are borrowing from and how close they are to the original
At the end of each year, AutoLooks puts together all of the their information into one easy to read article which outlines the best, worst, lost and new products from each year.
So join us on our journey of automotive criticism and take a look on our RATED pages to see how well each company, segment and model fair against their rivals.
