2026 Cookie Award Winners |
Releasing their first sedan was a big deal for Leapmotor, but using the basis of the Ford Five-Hundred for your design, was not. Maybe utilizing some design language from your new partner may help make this cookie a bit more attractive. Too bad for Leapmotor, as this model could have been more promising for the brand.
Basic is all to easy of a word to use for the E3. Void of any true design vision is a better way to describe this van. Without any true vision other than being a van, Shineray really didn't put any thought into their product all. The only thought here, besides being a van, is in its name. Had Shineray called it "the van" it would have been the best use of our award.
Being part of the GM stable should come with some sort of perks. But I guess when it comes to entry level products, GM is still void of any understanding. Wuling seems to site on both ends of the design spectrum, but when it asks for help from GM, all they get are dated bland designs. The Hongguang being a use of the previous Orlando layout. Maybe next time they will use some insight from their own products.
Aito is new to the automotive game, but their game really isn't on par with the competition. Or is it? The new M8 / M7 products seem to borrow the basis of the standard CUV design layout and bring it down a bit. Sure, NIO created this layout, but Aito ran with the most basic form of it. Guess all that technology can't make for a better design.
Where NIO started, Chery finished. Utilizing the most basic CUV layout, the new Fulwin T11 sets the stage for improving on the original layout, but still following its same design parameters. Too bad the Fulwin T11 will just get lost amongst the slew of new CUV's this year, as most have opted for the same layout.
That's Fresco not Fresca. No, you did not see that incorrectly, this is a car which has a name similar to sparkling drink. And oddly enough, uses the layout of the ill-fated Apple Car project and Canoo sedan. But in all reality, this is a new car which looks to change our view on basic automotive design.
LEVC may have been the original cookie van, but the new Galaxy V900 is the remix no one wanted. Sure, China does want more vans, but do we really need the same one in a different packaged name. In all reality, the V900 would be the main product with the L380 being the Wal-Mart equivalent.
Li Auto didn't learn from its first appearance on our list last year. Guess, they thought that the I8 was a better version of the Mega. But unfortunately, the I8 is just another Mega bust for the brand, as it too lands in out standard box of cookies.
Nissan may be in a heap of trouble, as they try to turn themselves back into the black. But moving the already bland styled Leaf into the ALV marketplace was a bit of gamble for them. Sure, it does enter a market in need of new products, but they could have added a bit more to its overall appearance to make it more aggressive. But hey, this is only the first Leaf of fall.
Slate is all new to the market and they want to change the way we enter the market. And when you are going to do that, you can't spend big on design. Slate did just that, but in a way it works for the design and its price point. Sure, it may be remembered as one of the most basic entry level designs, but that may work toward its success.
When you want to take on the top tier of luxury, why not do it with the simplest design you can come up with. Stelato so far has carved out a name in the luxury ring, but not in the design ring. They may be able to push back against BMW and Mercedes, but basic Audi design may hold them back from hitting the top tier of the luxury world.
What happens when people ask for a city truck to fit into the tightest spaces. You get the Telo MT1. This may be the perfect truck for urban dwellers, but it certainly won't be turning any heads on cruise night. Simple may just not be enough to describe this little truck, as it takes theory far beyond what most of us would call simple.

If they rate above 75%, they receive our A+ AWARD for design excellence.
If our rating system turns up a score below 45%, then that model will receive our RUSTY AWARD of design failure.
And don't think of borrowing to many design features from another company, or you will wind up taking home our COPYCAT AWARD. This award outlines which model they are borrowing from and how close they are to the original
At the end of each year, AutoLooks puts together all of the their information into one easy to read article which outlines the best, worst, lost and new products from each year.
So join us on our journey of automotive criticism and take a look on our RATED pages to see how well each company, segment and model fair against their rivals.
