full size - truck
Yes, we all know that RAM is not the only truck used by ranchers, but it is the one truck that is famous for being the ranchers choice. Of course that is because of product marketing.
For 2019 RAM has decided to update the 1500 so that it can compete with the rest of the new full size trucks. Sure we are still waiting on the 2500 and 3500, but the 1500 will do for now.
Up front RAM has kept to its ways with an oversized grille and an overuse of chrome. Would have been a bit better with the old hairline grille, but I guess change is good.
As we did say they have overused chrome on the front of this new truck. Utilizing it on every square inch of the front bumper. This has made the new bumper blend in better with the front grille. But that too can be a downfall to this front design.
They did manage to cowl the hood to make it a bit more appealing than having a flat space. This also keeps with their transport inspired design as well. But all that cowl in the middle did take a bit away from the transport appeal and has made the hood-line similar to that of the Tundra. So for that RAM you get a copycat point.
It was nice to see that again they have integrated the exhaust ports into the rear of this truck. Unlike their competitors, RAM knows that an exhaust sticking down or out the side looks cheap and poorly designed. To for this feature we have to applaud RAM again for some integration.
The tail lights are a minor change from the last ones, but they are still the same layout. Sure they follow suit with the new lazer designs, but the main outline is still the same. Let's drop this outline for next time guys.
We do love RAM for their ability to squeeze oversized wheels under the body of the truck and still make it fit. Most companies either have too much dead cat hole appearing or the wheels look oversized. But when it comes to RAM they manage to pull it off.
Overall we do like the new RAM and did give it a good mark. It's still not within A+ territory, but it is moving in the right direction. Let's hope that they still build the TRX model to compete with the Raptor.
