2009 Coupe & Convertible design ratings

Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Although this market has seen shrink in availability of models to choose from, a select few companies still seem interested in creating coupes.  During the late 80’s and early 90’s, you were able to get nearly any car in a coupe or convertible model, but today almost every company has dropped them from their lineup.
Most companies say it’s due to cost and others blame a fall in demand.  All we can say is that its hard to get why only the boring still live on.
For this year AutoLooks had it easy.  Picking a winner among a segment of boring coupes, was not that hard.  Only one company decided that its coupe model version of its sedan, would look completely different.  So for this year the AutoLooks A+ award would have to go to the 2009 Hyundai Genesis Coupe.  Hyundai seems to be one of the last companies interested in building coupes, and when they build them, they make them look good.  The Genesis is the winner due to its angry front end and large wheels.  Although the front air duct could be cut into three and the side windows end on the round, the rest of the car is just beautiful.
Now for the hard part, naming this years Rusty, from a field of mostly boring cars.  Coming from a company known for power and style, it was odd to see its own coupe win such an award.  But with sad eyes, a protruding front grille and that the rear wheels are way to far back, we had to name the 2008 Alfa Romeo GT the Rusty car of the year.  Nothing about this car embodies fun. From its front to rear, almost every aspect of this car is boring, and that’s hard to say, considering one of its competitors is a Honda Accord.
