Micro Cars are a segment of the industry, which has just begun to show its true presence in the world.  It has been around for a long time, it has just never been big news, or has had many volume cars within it.  In a world of ever growing gas prices and no real sign in sight about a replacement fuel for gasoline, Micro Cars have been seen as the next big thing for major cities.
Though the market for Micro Cars is big in Asian markets, the European and North American markets have not seen a lot of them, until recently.  With the release of the Tata Nano this year, and the ever-growing demand for Smarts, this market has seen substantial growth.  With this we have made out pick for the top and bottom of the pack for the micro car segment this year.
This year’s top pick for the AutoLooks A+ award, was the most famous and the only really good-looking one of the bunch, the 2009 Smart ForTwo.  With its aggressive front end and not so bland styling, the 2009 ForTwo is the only real looking Micro Car to come out in 2009.
Most cars within this segment look like odd shaped bubbles slapped together to get a piece of this growing segment.  The sad thing is that consumers don’t care what a car looks like if it costs under $10,000.  And that brings us the winner of the Rusty Award.  This goes to the one of the worst designed cars out there.  Although it is functional, and is the cheapest car in the world, the Tata Nano is one of the ugliest cars out there.  So, for this year it receives AutoLooks worst award.
