2009 small luxury design ratings

Alfa Romeo 147
With an ever growing demand for small cars, and the ever growing prices of gas, its not odd that the luxury marks would get on the small car band wagon.  Although all three contenders within this segment have been around for some time, all three are new in terms to their respective marketplaces.  It is the fist time anyone has seen a mini BMW in North America since the 2002 model of the 70’s.
And extending the wheelbase of an already famous small car is just genius.  Considering that this is a relatively new market, it is not odd to see cars that do not look finished yet.  And for our contenders that is relatively true.
This years AutoLooks A+ award was hard to give away to this segment, due to the poor designs of the small cars.  It seems that luxury marks cannot make extravagant looking smalls cars, even though they usually hold the title for every other segment.  So for this year we had to name the model, which looked the most finished, and for that we name the 2009 BMW 1-Series, the small luxury car of the year.  The BMW seemed to look more fitting to its size, as appose to its other contenders.  Even with its sad looking front end and sweeping female lines, the car still seems to echo sport.
And for that we get to the car, which looks the most off these three cars.  It was not hard to name the 2009 Mini Clubman the Rusty small luxury car of the year.  With its two-tone plastic body, and odd-looking taillights, the Clubman is fitting to this award.  It seems the Mini should have just added two more doors to this car rather than adding half doors with and odd-looking rear.
