supercar - high performance

Bugatti Chiron
With a final score of 73.48%, the new Chiron is just shy of an A+ award.  Of course that could be because the Chiron is the rebirth of the Veyron.  Guess Bugatti didn't have anything new up their sleeve.
Well it seems that these days only improving on what is great is the best that we get.  When you consider that the replacement for the Veyron is only a minor rework on the exterior to help it secure a longer life.  Yes we are saying that the Chiron is more of a disappointment than a blessing.  Seems that someone at VW must have cut the budget on the Veyron replacement and made the whole focus on speed and power.  For this we are rather discouraged about the outcome.

Up front the Chiron has had a few cosmetic changes over the Veyron, with the main focus on the head lamps.  Yes this is a good improvement over the highly outdated bubble lights of the Veyron.  But only minor enhancements to the air ducts, and front spoiler have been made.  These changes only bring the car into this century.
Chiron front
Along the side is where the biggest change has happened as the a-pillar incircles most of the side of the Chiron.  This seems to be a new fad, but one that has already been done by GTA Spano.  Guess someone at VW thought that we may not notice that this is a borrowed styling aspect.  Sure this is a paint design which dates back to the beginnings of Bugatti, but not a design aspect that was there's.
Chiron side
Out back you may not be able to see where the Veyron left off and the Chiron took over as this is the only all new portion of this ride.  Seems someone finally said we need to make a major change to something on our new supercar.  This is where the Chiron really comes alive with its large mouth bass air duct which seems to be swallowing a light fixture.  Sure this really makes a great statement, but don't you think that it is a bit too much.  Maybe bring in the sides to match the light band and you might have a more defined rear end.
Chiron rear
So as we look at the future of supercars at Geneva this week, we have to stop and think about how someone could get so lost within their own ego.  So maybe next time Bugatti will think more about their own past and present styling is before they borrow from their competitors.  We all remember that day when VW released the Veyron and world of supercars was set on fire.  Since that day we have seen an explosion in speed and horsepower within this market.  Too bad Bugatti lost touch with where they previously came from.  This time they will just blend in with the crowd, instead of being the gold standard.

But in the end it seems the artist nature of Ettore Bugatti and his brother Rembrandt have been lost within the confines of the VW corporate culture.  Guess we will have to move on to other more defined supercar manufacture's to truly see where the supercar / hypercar future is going.
