micro - hatchback
Up front they have added the new corporate grille, which makes it appear a bit more upper class than the rest of the crowd. But that is where this front end stops. The rest is what you can expect from micro cars. The Ka+ comes with horribly outdated bubble lights which would have been better if they had borrowed new lights from the Focus. Add to this a few too many curved lines and you have the makings of snouted bubble front end. Sure it's hard to make a micro hatch look great, but if you try really hard you can succeed. Guess Ford didn't try hard enough. Out back they did try a bit harder as they did curve the tail lights into the rear design. This creates a well balanced flow to the design. The upper hatch spoiler is a great touch, but could have been toned down just a bit. As we go lower on the rear, we tend to be drawn into the oversized bumper and the poor attempt at adding a rear port. This cheap plastic strip has no real importance and could have been down without. Along the side we start to see how Ford did manage to slap a few character lines onto the side. But this is over emphasized by the simplistic outline of the side windows. It seems odd that Ford didn't make the side windows flow with the roofline. To defeat this problem they could have made the side windows float just like most companies are starting to do. All around the new Ka+ is a poor enhancement of the previous model and could have been done a lot better. We hope that Ford really works hard on the next Ka model as we are looking for some sort of wow factor.
