luxury saloon - sedan
mistake the GT-4 door is just that. Sure it has the grille and headlamps of its coupe brother, but the rest of the car has the same features. It could have been better if the actual GT-4 door was more of what the name implies. Now at first glance the GT-4 door may seem like a 4-door version of the coupe, but to a trained eye it's much more. It seems that Mercedes thought that they could hide the real personality of this car with a new name and front end. Funny I think we all saw this from Honda back in the early 00's with the Civic and CSX. Sure they both have some changed features, but underneath their the same car. And make no mistake that that GT-4 door and CLS are the same car. Too bad that more of the GT Coupe didn't make it over to the sedan. Maybe if they had done that it would look more like a 4-door version of the coupe, rather than a more potent version of the CLS. If AMG had brought over the side brake ducts and its less raked windscreen, this could have been a real 4-door version of the grand tourer car. But to to do that Mercedes and AMG would have had to do a bit more work to the CLS to make it look more like the AMG GT. And we all know that Mercedes is more about profits and profiles. Too bad though as a real coupe version of the AMG GT would have been a really great sports saloon to have. But I guess when it comes down to profits and making the most out of your product line a new name on the same car is a good way to do that. Lets hope that the possible AMG SUV will be more than a different face on the same G-Class we have come to love. Everett J.
