The Ranger has been around for a long time and over its time it has seen many changes. For 2022 Ford Global has decided to unleash a new Ranger and this time its going for gold. Podcast: Ford RangerUp front this new truck brings its A-Game, as Ford's new truck grille has been added to refresh the image of the Ranger. This new grille helps set the Ranger in line with the updated F-150 and all new Maverick. Making it seem like its a baby F-150, the new hood carries adds to the flavor of the new front end. Cowls create a power look, which will help with bringing the Ranger in line with the Tacoma. Some lackluster plastic and an improperly laid out intake, take away from a perfect image. Running down the side you will find a nicely laid out engine exhaust port, which adds to the power image on all models. A few good character lines help differentiate the side of this model from the previous. Some lackluster rims and that cheap plastic again take away from the masculinity of this model. The good news is that Ford has added some easy access steps at the back of the box. Rated: 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor
Rated: 2019 TrucksAll around the new Ranger looks like a great update to the old, but in reality its design rating has slid. From a healthy 61.58% in 2019, this makeover just wasn't enough of an upgrade. The new truck like image should be useful as a great start for a Raptor model and who knows, maybe this Raptor will be better. Everett J. #autolooks, @AutoLooks COMPETITION:

The sport models of the new Ranger did help make it a bit better looking. Although still not in line with the previous FX4, the Wildtrak model is a step in the right direction.
Up front a broader skid plate and bumper accents help boost the appeal for both the Sport and Wildtrak. Adding on roof rails helps with weekend warrior syndrome, but not by much. A few extra accents help improve the side along with dark highlights to the rear lights. |

All around the new Wildtrak and Sport models of the Ranger are showing us some improvements. But will they be enough to sway the market away from other domestic rivals.
