With a little help from their friends over at GM, Honda is almost ready to make their mark on the EV world.  Helping this push is the all-new Prologue, a CUV which is positioned to compete with products like the Volkswagen ID.4.  Even with help from GM, Honda is still very ambitious about its future EV plans with many new products in the works. While most of these products are positioned for the Asian and European markets, there is still an ongoing plan to bring some of these products over to North America.

As with Honda, its products must meet certain criteria when entering the
market and the Prologue is hitting all of them.  Honda is one of those companies who prides themselves with being a top tier company when it comes to overall quality.  This means that what is under the skin of the car, is the part they spend the longest amount of time on.  Great news for your wallet as the longevity of their vehicles is hardly matched in the market.  But this also means, that the what is on the outside is only meant to cover what is underneath. So, yet again, the basic Honda look is wildly used on the Prologue.
2021 Volkswagen ID. 4 Crozz
2022 Cadillac Lyriq
Up front you can expect to find simple character lines, basic light profiles and grille and all the gloss black you could think of.  Honda is very good at making the basic look a bit better than you would expect, as the lower intake is perfectly sized and laid out.  It could use a change in material, but besides that, it does bring out the appeal of the aftermarket world.

Lower you will find the other area which Honda adds for the aftermarket world.  Similar to Volkswagen, Honda is the other company who builds cars which you only need to lower and change the rims to look good.  The lower front spoiler along with the lower intake are the reasons for this on the front. And like the intake, Honda needs to update the material, as the gloss black is not very fitting.

One thing we would like to ask Honda to fit on the refresh are the side foglamp gills.  This area is full of gloss plastic and round lights.  A smoked fog light with some aluminum trim with fins would bring out this area and make it appear more sporting.  Add to this the lower indent below the front grille and Honda has some work to do.
Honda Prologue front
Similar to most of its models, the Prologue lacks any defining character features along its side.  Add to this the overuse of gloss black accents and you have the makings of your standard bland Honda side profile.  As with most Honda products there are no character lines, which in this products case, could have helped is stand out a bit better.  Although Honda did get the sizing for the roof rails.

Flower inspired rims are not the right choice for this vehicle.  We get it, that this product is made of clean flowing lines, but cylinder-shaped rims, are not the answer to this vehicle.  They can keep the 6-point, but let’s pull these ones in a bit and add an indent to the center.  A clean flowing set of rims, would work a lot better.
Honda Prologue side
Looking at the Prologue from the rear it would seem like this is not the same vehicle.  We all know that Honda really likes the dark accents, but back here they just seem to work perfectly.  Up top Honda has done a good job with the spoiler, but next time, they should extend it out a bit more.  We don’t want an aftermarket oversized “rice” spoiler, but we do want something more fitting.

A bit lower you will find an issue with backing up the Prologue, as the rear window is rather short.  Add to this an improperly place rear window wiper, which sits in your line of sight and you have the makings of a back-up camera only product.  But this is all complimented nicely with the tinted light display.

With the addition a block lettered Honda nameplate, the rear lights are well done.  Using a simple design, Honda has managed to wrap the light fixture from end to end, fitting in perfectly with the rest of the rear.  A bit lower though and you will find the oversized gloss black bumper which requires some better integration and side slit reflectors.

Along the bottom of the rear bumper, you will find a rear skid pad mixed with a diffuser.  This adds to the protection of the bumper and its aluminum appeal, helps to break up the gloss black.  Similar to the bumper, this should have also been brought in a bit.
Honda Prologue rear
Overall, the Prologue is a sleek bland design, which is what most of us have come to expect from Honda.  Clean flowing lines complimented by gloss black accents, does work on this vehicle, but a bit more character could be added.  With a few little updates, this model could be more than just a run of the mill CUV, it could be a sporty, grab your attention, CUV.  Let’s just hope that Honda is listening.
