2014 Toyota Vios

Sub-Compact - sedan

Toyota Vios
With a final score of 72%, the new Vios is sure to be one of the best looking sub-compacts in the world.  Lets just hope that TRD gets their hands on this and makes a special edition.
It is nice to see that Toyota has awaken from its boring slumber and has injected some fun back into their cars. This can definitely be said about the replacement for the Yaris.  Uncle Yaris was good to us, but he never had as much injected into him, that is where the Vios comes in.  From its darkened headlights to the dark edges around the front duct, this car just screams sub-compact performance.  But it still has one major downfall which a TRD model will surely change.  It is the fact that the car is a little high off the ground.  Sure this means you don't have to avoid potholes, but it means that your sport appeal is decreased.

The other thing that TRD needs to adjust on the Vios are the smooth lines on the front bumper.  Toyota needs to add in a bit more hard edges to make this car a bit more fun.  Now add in a flat front spoiler and you have one great looking sport compact on your hands.

Now all we need is a new Supra.

OVERALL GRADE = B+

Front End: B+
Good: All dark edges and a grille from hell
Bad: Needs a duct or dimple on the hood
Rear End: B
Good: Simple but fast with all the right lines
Bad: A darkened in exhaust port would make this perfect
Side: B
Good: Smooth fast lines which add a sense of sport
Bad: Mirrors which are a bit too flat
Overall Appeal: B+
Good: The supermodel of the sub-compact ring
Bad: Still a bit tall, but that could be fixed with some lowering springs
