Luxury Wagon - Cross-trek When you have something that works, then why make it better. Well if you were just bought out by a Chinese company and you know have the money, then why not. The all new V40 Cross Country is sure to be a great hit for Volvo. Since its inception the V40 Cross Country has tried to make a mark on the Cross-Trek market. This time it is sure to make that hit. Up front the Cross Country may appear to have a long snout and thinning eyes, but it makes up for all of this with an in your face skid plate, racked windshield and rugged hood. Next time Volvo should lose the hood overhang and just let it rest on the front bumper, or they could bring it all the way to ground. Out back Volvo continues the trend of tall body flowing rear lights and adds in an inset. This inset creates a rear all of its own and it makes your eyes think its taller than it is. Of course this would be a good thing if it wasn't for the overly outset rear bumper. Maybe next time Volvo should take a little out of the trunk. With a new lease on life, it seems that Volvo is making its long awaited come back. Everett J. OVERALL GRADE = B-Front End: B- Good: Well racked windshield creates one fast look Bad: A bit of overhang from the front grille creates an odd looking snout Rear End: C+ Good: Taillights which blend well with all of the curves of the rear end Bad: Too many swooping lines creates a wave in the rear Side: B Good: Chrome side runners are a great touch to make this an off roader Bad: The teardrop side windows are in need of some hard edges Overall Appeal: C+ Good: Execution form sport wagon to off roader Bad: Too much Subaru appeal with its plastic body cladding
