2015 volkswagen Passat

Mid-size - sedan

VW Passat
With a final score of 57.83%, the new Passat is a move in the wrong direction for VW.  Yes this car may come off as more of a mid-size with lots of room and a bit more sport appeal, but it still has bland and boring body lines.  Next time VW should use more dark lines and add in some more attitude.
From the time the Passat hit the marketplace, it has always come off as just that other mid-size sedan from VW.  Over the years it has grown and evolved into something more people would purchase.  Of course more people would purchase it if it made a better impression.  If VW did to the Passat that Ford did with the Fusion or Mazda did with the 6, then maybe they would have a winner on their hands.  It seems that VW is always the last company on your hit list when it comes to most models, well except for a compact hatch (ie Golf).  It seems that even for 2015 VW could not push the Passat to the next level and make it the best in the market or at least make it something that people would desire.

Our front the new Passat has borrowed some aspects from the Midsize Coupe Concept from Beijing.  Of course that is only some aspects, with the best ones left out for the new Passat.  VW should have used the dark grille from the concept to draw your eye away from the plastic slits and more towards the sinister eyes.  This could have save the face of the new Passat, but it may arrive on the R model.

On the rear of the new Passat, it seems that Volkswagen has made sure that most of the concept was moved over.  This included the flat and boring trunk lid.  This could have been done away with if the license plate had been moved up or if they added a larger lip spoiler with a chrome accent.

Along the side VW has made sure that the new Passat has the best rims for this ride.  Yes they do match the decor of the rest of the car.  Well everything along the side matches except for the mirrors.  If they had gone with something that had more hard edges than the whole side would have matched.

Overall the new Passat could become the best Passat to date, but that is not saying a lot about the previous models.  With a few more dark spots and hard edges the new Passat could have easily reached that 70% mark, but without that it will have to live on with its 58%.
