2013 CopyCat Awards

3/22/2021

Comments

"Not all snowflakes are the same, but yours is too close to another."
2013 CopyCat
Not all copycats look exactly like the model they are copying.  Some utilize key aspects, while others copy the entire design.  Each year AutoLooks outlines which products are utilizing someone else's design and gives them our CopyCat award.  Below is our list for 2013 and an outline of what each company has borrowed.
So far, 2013 has become the year of copycats, as 2013 marks the largest amount of copycats we have ever found.  Let's hope that most of the companies get the point and move on with their own designs.

2013 Amoritz GT (copy of the 2011 lamborghini Gallardo)

2013 Amoritz GT - copycat award certificate
You may have never heard about them or may never again, but this small company from Brazil is going after some big players.  Although it is not an exact knockoff of the Gallardo, the Amoritz GT still borrows the same profile as its competitor.

2013 Arrinera Hussarya (copy of the 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo)

2013 Arrinera Hussarya copycat award certificate
Hailing from Poland, Arrinera is new to the game and wants to make a name for themselves.  Seems like they are, as they have borrowed some key design elements from the Lamborghini Gallardo.  Arrinera has made some major improvements over what Lamborghini has done, but that doesn't get you out of the AutoLooks CopyCat territory.

2013 Changan Alsvin V5 (copy of the 2012 Mazda 3 and Toyota Corolla)

2013 Changan Alsvin V5 copycat award certificate
For a second year in a row, Changan has one copycat award for their compact sedan.  This year they take home two (2) copycat awards for the 2013 Alsvin V5.  Keeping with their Mazda front end, this model has now chosen to borrow its rear from the famous Toyota Corolla.  Guess, last years one award wasn't enough for Changan.

2013 Englon EX7 (copy of the 2011 Toyota Rav4)

2013 Englon EX7 copycat award certificate
A division of Geely, Englon is trying to move its way into a few more driveways as it branches out into the compact CUV marketplace.  Guess, if you want to make yourself known of, you should start with something people know of.  A Toyota Rav4 would be a great start for some and it seems that this model has had its fair share of copycats.  Now they can add another.

2013 Eterniti Artemis (copy of the 2011 Porsche cayenne Turbo)

2013 Eterniti Artemis copycat award certificate
When you want to make a statement in speed and power, why not used the ultimate design for that.  Eterniti is new to the automotive world, but their product is not.  Borrowing heavily from the Porsche Cayenne, their Artemis product is anything but new to the automotive world.  Let's just hope it has more power than the Porsche.

2013 Force Motors Gurkha (copy of a Mercedes-Benz G-Class)

2013 Force Motors Gurkha copycat award certificate
It's form is known around the world and now it seems that Force Motors wants to build off of it's fan fare.  For 2013, the all new Gurkha gets even more Mercedes-Benz, as it clads itself with more of its famous features.  Borrowing not only its profile, but some of its body cladding, the new Gurkha is sure to be the hot new ride of anyone who wants an M-B G-Class.

2013 Great Wall Voleex C10 (copy of the 2012 toyota Yaris)

2013 Great Wall Voleex C10 copycat award certificate
Great Wall has done one great job with their new Voleex C10, as they have nailed the rear profile of the 2011 Toyota Yaris, right on the head.  A few minor changes to help differentiate the two (2) can be seen, but all around we all know what look they were really going for.

2013 Haima 3 (copy of the Mazda 3)

2013 Haima 3 copycat award certificate
Not only did Haima borrow key design elements from Mazda.  But they just had to go one step further and utilize the same naming convention as well.  Their all new 3, compact sedan borrows from the previous generation Mazda 3 and decides to keep the name to ensure that consumers will be confused into purchasing their product.

2013 Roding Roadster (copy of the 2013 Audi R8 GT)

2013 Roding Roadster copycat certificate
Roding may not be a household name, but their rear end is.  Borrowing nearly every detail from the rear of an Audi R8, the Roding Roaster is a purebred copycat.  Parking next to an Audi at your local grocery store, may cause some confusion, as this Roaster rear is built to the same as another.

2013 Kia Pro cee'd (copy of a 2012 Opel Astra GTC)

2013 Kia Pro Cee'd copycat certificate
When you want to play with the big kids, they you have to look like the big kits.  This lesson was learned last year as Kia added this rule to its playbook for the 2012 Kia Rio.  For 2013, they are applying this rule to their updated Kia Pro Cee'd.  Utilizing the profile and a few design elements from the 2012 Opel Astra, the all
new Kia Pro Cee'd is a step into the sport compact hatch ring.  Guess someone should inform Honda and Peugeot, as they may be on next years agenda for Kia.
