2023 Rusty Awards

AND THE 2023 RUSTY AWARD GOES TO......

2023 Rusty Awards
A bad version of a product is one thing.  But when you re-create it as bad as this years bottom end winner did, then maybe you are just meant to win for the best dressed at the ball.
The ball in which is automotive design always has winners and losers.  But for 2023 model year, it seams that the bottom end of the spectrum has gotten worse.  AutoLooks has gone through many......
vehicles this year and it seems that the bottom of the design spectrum has rolled up there sleeves to the thought of doing better.

With the thought of being named the worst at the ball, many of this years players have really put in no effort into trying to do better.  Hatchbacks have always had a home at the bottom of the design spectrum, but for 2023 this is no less true than any other year.  With our top five (5) being all hatch's and with six (6) overall in this list, it seems that we know who really doesn't car about looking good at the ball.

Trucks have made a move down the list this year, as the rest of the field from the top ten (10) was made from this segment.  This could be a sign of our failing future, or just a sign that the changeover to electric power is altering out vision of beautiful.

Sure, we need to make changes now, to help our future, but when it comes at the cost of how we look, then is really worth it.  Many of you may fight us on this measure, as we need to make a change to better our world, but if we have to give up style to move into a better future, then it looks like AutoLooks has lots of work to do now.

With a history of being able to change the design world, it seems once again the automotive world is in need of our assistance more than ever.  Especially when trucks take a turn for the worse, as they notch out vans from their second place spot.  I guess this just proves more than ever that the automotive world is in for a major overhaul, as we move to an alternate mobilized future.

AutoLooks has been at this game since 2004 and it seems that our work is not complete yet.  Our changeover from vehicle ownership and the internal combustion engine, seems to be paving the way for design changes in the way we see the world around us.  But, can this be all that true, as there are still some of us who are true die hard fans of this industry?  I guess it is time for us to find out.

2022 was an odd year to begin with, but with a dire end like this, it seems the world of automotive design is in for a major overhaul.  Similar to that of the late seventies (70's) when the gas crisis and new safety laws were put into place, we are just at the beginning of this new adventure.  Let's just hope it gets better from here, or AutoLooks may just have more work to do to this great commercial marketplace we all Automotive.

    About

AutoLooks "RATED" is where we rate and review vehicles from around the world from every segment of the automotive industry.  Our 1,215 point system is based on Four (4) key areas of automotive design.
AutoLooks rates the Front End, Rear End, Side and Overall Appeal of each and every new vehicle from around the world.
If they rate above 75%, they receive our
    A+ AWARD for design excellence.
If our rating system turns up a score below 45%, then that model will receive our RUSTY AWARD of design failure.
And don't think of borrowing to many design features from another company, or you will wind up taking home our COPYCAT AWARD.  This award outlines which model they are borrowing from and how close they are to the original
At the end of each year, AutoLooks puts together all of the their information into one easy to read article which outlines the best, worst, lost and new products from each year.
So join us on our journey of automotive criticism and take a look on our RATED pages to see how well each company, segment and model fair against their rivals.
