Born from the dreams of an immigrant, De Tomaso has come a long way since it first used American muscle to power its famous cars. With the likes of Elvis Presley once owning one, the new De Tomaso does have its work cut out for it.
For 2020 De Tomaso is looking to make a comeback and in a big way as this time they have the backing from one of the top supercar/hypercar manufactures out there.

It wasn’t that long ago when we first laid eyes on the marvelous beast for the first time and when that V8 roared to life, we were hooked. Now if you don’t remember what movie we are talking about, then you need to check the image below. We are talking about that marvelous GT500 show car from the 2000 iteration of “Gone in 60 seconds”. Sure we all know that the movie cars was a massive overhaul on the original, but maybe that’s why we have this great model today.

Looking back at the late 90’s and early 2000’s, you will find a few car cult movies the helped garner attention towards a few past or present models. As the Fast and the Furious franchise catapulted the Supra to stardom, so did Gone in 60 Seconds for the GT500. And it couldn’t hurt that the Mustang was about to receive its best makeover yet, as the new 2005 retro inspired Mustang was on the way. But before that could happen for this model, they needed something more than just the Bullitt model to push it into new avenues. The Mustang needed its Shelby back.
