truck - ev/hybrid - rusty award
With a final score of 36.79%, the Tesla Cybertruck won't be winning any beauty pageants. Although not all of the competition is better dressed, the Cybertruck could have put on a better tuxedo. Given that we waited forever for this to arrive, it could have been more like the rest of the Tesla product line and less like something from Blade Runner. From top to bottom the Cybertruck really runs with its hard edges and plain fields. They could have added a few character lines and smooth edges to help break up the childish styling that this truck has. A few port holes, crease lines or even a curved wheel well cover could have made this more of a truck from today, not from the future of the 80's. But given that this model lacks a few of the required accessories for the road, we are hard to believe that this is the final product. If you take a close look at the Cybertruck there are no reflectors, fog lights, license plate lights, skid plates or even any Tesla markings at all. Without a few of these and some minor changes due to the hard edges, we see the Cybertruck won't be exactly as shown when it does it showrooms. Although it has garnered a great amount of pre-sales, the future will really determine if this back to the future ride can hold its own in the world today. And government regulations will help play a role in shaping the final product as well. As we have already heard, Germany won't be allowing this design due to its issues with pedestrian safety. In the end its really up the world market and governance to show us what this product will really look like when we get to drive it home. Everett J.
