AND THE 2015 RUSTY AWARD GOES TO........

2015 Rusty Awards
Compared to 2014, the 2015 model year seems rather bland and boring.  Sort of like the cars on our worst list.

For 2015 it seems that most automakers forgot that there is a year between 2014 and 2016.  The lineups for most automakers will not see many major changes until at least 2016, with only a

few changes made to top models.  For Toyota an all new Camry will have to wait, as the release of the Passo was a higher priority.  No it really wasn't and if it it was, the person in charge should be put down "old yeller" style.

RAted: 2015 Nissan Pulsar

Seems that Toyota forgot for a moment that they are trying to bring more consumers to their cars.  But when your the biggest company in the world I guess you can make some cute mistakes (unlike GM and the Aztek).

The 2015 Passo is one of the few kei cars that is going after the younger female market.  It is always good to carve out a niche and hold it, but with the influx in cute kei cars from the competition, the new Passo may have some trouble ahead.

Rated: 2015 Chevrolet Aveo

Up front the you tend to be drawn to the frog eyes and skinny smiling smirk of a lower grille.  This creates a warm and open feeling, but it tends to say, "I'm cute for a moment".  The best option for this car would have been to go with a more standard hard edge light design which follows a V-pattern front grille.  This may seem like everyone else, but at least the Passo wouldn't be at the bottom of the barrel.

With the shift from cars to transit in Japan, it seems that all of the Japanese auto makers are rushing to enter the vital kei-car market to attract more buyers.  Too bad this has led to worst design segment in history.

Rated: 2015 Mercedes-BEnz GLA

It is time for a major change in the way we see small cars and I for one have had enough the cute look.  If Smart can find a more masculine design, then maybe the rest of the automotive market can too.  Lets hope next year has some better looking kei-cars.

    About

AutoLooks "RATED" is where we rate and review vehicles from around the world from every segment of the automotive industry.  Our 1,215 point system is based on Four (4) key areas of automotive design.
AutoLooks rates the Front End, Rear End, Side and Overall Appeal of each and every new vehicle from around the world.
If they rate above 75%, they receive our
    A+ AWARD for design excellence.
If our rating system turns up a score below 45%, then that model will receive our RUSTY AWARD of design failure.
And don't think of borrowing to many design features from another company, or you will wind up taking home our COPYCAT AWARD.  This award outlines which model they are borrowing from and how close they are to the original
At the end of each year, AutoLooks puts together all of the their information into one easy to read article which outlines the best, worst, lost and new products from each year.
So join us on our journey of automotive criticism and take a look on our RATED pages to see how well each company, segment and model fair against their rivals.
