The Borrego wasn't the first fully capable off-road product from Kia, but it was the only 7-seater they ever had. That was until the 2020 model year when the new Telluride arrived. Unfortunately this all new model is only partially capable off road as its unibody construction restricts it from going into the back-woods.
At one point in their history, Kia was a producer of many different products with off road capabilities. But today they seem to be only interested in the soft road market for North America. That could all change with the introduction of the all new Ford Bronco. This new model may be showing Kia, that they need to bring back their true off roader to compete in this emerging marketplace.
But is this the best way to go after this market, or should they bring back the original Retona or Sportage. Only time will tell us that answer, but with Borrego living on as the Mohave in other markets, their may still be hope for this once graceful product from Kia.
