Podcast Episode: 0172 |
| It was not only a movie about time travel, but a movie about a car. Follow us as we take a look at how the Back to the Future franchise influenced the world with a lost car. The movie may have been about time travel, Doc and Marty, but its influence on the automotive world has been bigger than anything else. |
Back to the Future is one of the most inspirational time travel movies of all time and thanks to its use of the DMC-12 and Michael J. Fox, it has become a timeless classic. Utilizing a vehicle which was big when it hit the market and still doesn't show its age, mixed with an actor who stands the test of time, this movie franchise has become a cult classic and worldwide phenomenon.
The automotive aspect of the movie has far out weighted the initial story behind it, as most of us have come to love the three main actors. With Doc and Marty moving their way through time, the DeLorean has become a timeless piece of cinematic history. Not only has this saved the image of the failed brand, but inspired many to build and chase their own dreams.
Throughout the movie, many vehicles have been seen, and all of them have made a statement stronger than most know of. Biff's Ford hails as a classic of the 50's due to its involvement in the street racing movement. Marty's Tacoma showcases the Asian invasion of the 80's and how we were all adding aftermarket parts to our vehicles. And finally Griff's BMW showcases the future of custom classics bought on the cheap and made to look better.
You may think you know the movie franchise from top to bottom, but do you know how it has inspired the automotive world around it. A showcase of the past, present and future are shown in great detail, with most of us missing this piece of automotive inclusion. Sure, the DeLorean is the star, but without the proper cast behind it, would this movie had made it as big as it did?
So, follow AutoLooks as we take a look at the influence this movie had on the world around it, as we dive deep into the past to see our future. Now let's get this podcast up to 88mph and enjoy the ride.
