Why are there so many bike lanes out there?

Bike Lanes - AutoLooks
Ever stop and wonder why there are so many bike lanes being added every year.  Its odd that a mode of transportation only for the summer could change our entire infrastructure layout.  But there may be another reason this is happening.  AutoLooks is here to find out for you, so listen in below.

It seems that every major city you drive around these days is covered in bike lanes.  But why is it that over the past 20 years we have gotten so invested in providing for a piece of transportation which has been around as long as our cars?  Could it be that we are just reverting, back to pre-automotive society or is it just that we want to push people to be become healthier?  Whatever the reason, it must be a good one, as our cities are being overtaken by this new form of infrastructure.

Bike lanes are not really a new piece of infrastructure, as they have been around in some form for many decades.  But our fascination really started to peak near the end of the 20th century.  This could have been because we started to notice how overweight our society had become.  Now we needed a way to get more people outside for a little exercise.  But with a lack of interest, most cities still pursued this infrastructure expansion.  So, why did they keep on going?

That is what AutoLooks is here to talk about today, as we look at the bigger reason behind the heavy investment into this form of infrastructure.  There is more to it than you might know, as technology may have another use for this new form of infrastructure.
