Podcast Episode: 0129
why do we chase a better status than we can afford?

Status Quo - AutoLooks
Why is it we are always trying to keep up with today's trends and fads.  It costs us money and doesn't really prove anything in the end, but we still do it.  Even in the automotive world we try to prove our status with the vehicle we drive.  But why is this happening?  AutoLooks takes a look at the Status Quo of the automotive world and why we have specific status options available to us.

Status is one of those things which separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom.  As humans we can show off our personal net worth and status in the world with what we own.  But unlike the rest of the animal kingdom, humans can do this without truly achieving it.

Today it is more apparent then in the past, that we as humans have a major strive to be better than our peers.  Since strength alone doesn't work anymore, today we can utilize the products in which we own to drive up our personal status.  But how does this really help us out in the end?

If the automotive world has taught us one thing, its that, anyone can change their stars with what they show up to work or a party in.  Drive an economy car and you are seen as poor.  But show up in a high end model, and you are king among your peers.   This doesn't prove that you own it outright or have even earned it properly.  But to your peers, it appears to be true.

In the end our appearance amongst our peers seems to be more important to more of us than ever before.  Being ourselves is not real, unless we can truly prove that we are above the norm.  This is what AutoLooks is looking into on this weeks podcast, as we show you how the world around us is more fake than you think.  We appear to be better than we really are due to what we drive, but is it truly worth it in the end?  AutoLooks will find out.
