2030 is its end date, but can Chrysler and its brands be saved once again? Chrysler has fallen for many years and this time there is an end date in its future, but can it be saved from extinction once again? AutoLooks takes a look at Chrysler's rise and fall, to see if it has what it takes to be saved once again. |
Chrysler has been on borrowed time for the last decade and only now with its purchase from Groupe PSA, has its extinction date been set in motion. Being the only existing American automaker to go bankrupt more than once, Chrysler has had its share of lifelines. But can this once great automaker bounce back yet again, or is it doomed to fade into the background like so many others before it?
Being born from a dream to do better than the competition, Chrysler Corporation has fought its fair share of battles over the years. Surviving the crash of the 30's, oil shortages in the 70's, and the financial crisis of 2008, Chrysler has managed to keep itself going. A major overhaul in the 80's saw this once background automaker step into the light and become the one who everyone was keeping up with. But a failed marriage in the late 20th century, may have cost it more than it thought it gained.
Today Chrysler is living on borrowed time as its previous two owners didn't see the light at the end of its tunnel, as its previous CEO's did in the 90's. Now with a due date for extinction looming over its head, can it manage to bring back two (2) of its original divisions before the clock strikes midnight? Stellantis has given Chrysler and Dodge its "Two Minutes to Midnight" (thank you Iron Maiden) doomsday call, but will they be able to survive it?
AutoLooks takes a look at how this once great auto company fell from its high horse and if it will live to see another day. So, follow us on our journey through Chrysler Corporations history, as we try to find out where they went wrong and how they might be able to save themselves for the future.
