     Starting in 1949 the Type 2 van from Volkswagen was the second model to arrive from the newly established, British run company.  But why did Volkswagen consider making a van as their second model, when the Beetle was selling like crazy all over the world?  Besides a need to expand their product portfolio and look towards a future, this was not a thought back then as they had the Beetle and everyone wanted it.  So why was it created?
