Can Lamborghini Keep up with McLaren and Ferrari?

Lamborghini was a brand meant to take on the likes of Ferrari as a whole. Model for model, they were thereto take them head on. Today they are just that, a hole of what they used to be, but what could help bring them back?

Back in the 60's a simple tractor manufacture asked a simple question of a sports car manufacture. We all know what the response was and today this fierce rivalry is still going strong. But, what about the products which helped shape Lamborghini in their early years? Where have those models gone and why does Lamborghini not have any like them anymore?

At the beginning of their life, Lamborghini met their nemesis head on in a battle between who had the best GT on the road. Eventually the Mirua would arrive and soon change the face of Lamborghini's future.

This one model setup would forever change Lamborghini's for the future, but what ever happened to those great GT cars of the 60's. Seems after a few change of hands between the 70's, 80's and 90's, someone forgot what started Lamborghini. Sure, exotics and supercars ruled the days, but a change in the economies of the 90's would soon prove that the GT class was still required.

Throughout the years Lamborghini has played around with ideas of alternative vehicles and has even created a few of them in limited numbers. But, what about the key market segments which the competition are ruling today.

Today, Lamborghini does not have an entry level touring car or a gran tourer or even a speedster. They do have their top tier supercar and GTS, but no way for people to enter the mark. With McLaren, Porsche, Ferrari and Lotus having entry level products, it just seems odd that Lamborghini still only wants to focus on what they already have.

With a few holes to fill in their product lineup, can Lamborghini pace. Utilizing a limited product line to try to hit every market can be hard and sometimes you just need a little help from a third sibling.

Hopefully Lamborghini gets the point and soon adds in a new model, or the competition may finally win their rivalry.
