Ford has come a long way from their start with the original SVT Lighting, but now is a time of change and like the Mustang, this once famous truck is getting an overhaul. The name be new to some consumers, but its history dates back to 1993, when the peformance truck market was just heating up.
To heat things a bit more, Ford added an electrifying name to their new performance model. This market would gain more traction into the early 2000's, as the aftermarket world blew up. But all things must come to an end and soon enough so did the legacy of the performance F-150.
Sport models today can never take the place of the original Lightning. Now with the introduction of this name to an all electric model, Ford believes they can bring back some nostalgia towards this nameplate. But are they killing a good name, or making it better.
