2010 Mazda 2 MPS Design Review
Unlike its bigger brother the Mazdaspeed 3, the 2 MPS is a foray into the sub-compact playing field. This segment is one which is starting to make a name for itself within the Asian market, and may soon grace our shores. But when you take an odd-looking car to begin with, you might have some trouble along the way. So, when Mazda decided to make an MPS version of the 2 you would guess there would be a lot of mistakes. Not as many as you would think but Mazda did do a decent job with the 2 MPS. But when it comes to some of the choices you have to stop and think why. Like the wheels, a little bit small and a bit too 1990’s. Of course, that is not the only problem with the car. It does have a poorly designed front fascia, which looks like it has added on side air-ducts and an oddly shaped main duct. And added to that they have added some horrible looking side air ducts which look like they came from Wal-Mart. Of course, the all-around job of the car is pretty decent, you still have to wonder if this was done in house, or by an amateur. Everett J. #autolooks Overall Grade: C
