2010 EV & Hybrid Design Ratings
hybrid models are coming out. But now it seems that there is still a battle between some companies as to what the next to power our cars will be. First you have BMW and Audi ensuring people that electric is just a Band Aid for car companies. Then you have Tesla and Fisker fighting over who can create the best and cheapest high volume electric car. And lastly you have Toyota and GM who are adding electric motors to any vehicle it can. Now when you see what other people have in mind for a new age of the automobile you might think that some are on track and others are way off base. When it comes to what we will be driving in the near future then maybe one of these companies will be it. And then on the other hand maybe one of these companies will lead the way in a new era of automobile design. It may be one of younger segments out there but when you see how far the hybrid market has come it is hard to believe that one model is in its third generation. Well, when you have the X-Prize behind you, you might see some movement within an industry. And within the EV world it seems that this market has exploded from one model last year to four this year. But it is still hard to believe that there is no movement within the hybrid field. Sure, many companies have created hybrid version of their cars, but only one is working on an actual hybrid. Its not hard to figure out who is the best this year when you don’t have many bad points. With only two major downfalls it was not hard to name the 2010 RMC Scorpion the AutoLooks A+ winner. Utilizing the aftermarket world as well as the X-Prize sure did help catapult the RMC to the winner’s circle. When you’re a company known for creating some of the worst designs of the past decade its not hard to know who is the winner of the Rusty award this year. Yes, the 2010 Honda Insight is the Rusty Hybrid of the year. The reason for this is because it is trying to follow the direction of the previous Prius. That is one big design problem since the design they are using is a previous generation known for no excitement or cool attitude. Everett J. #autolooks
